1,200 Mexican federal police and an unknown number of U.S. agents. He
faces multiple indictments in the United States for importing tons of
cocaine. Mexican authorities say he is a kidnapper, torturer and murderer
- as well as a major trafficker of marijuana and cocaine.

El presidente venezolano Hugo Chávez alabó a Sean Penn por su postura crítica contra la guerra en Irak y dijo que conversó con el actor por teléfono y que planean reunirse en persona el jueves.
Chávez indicó que Penn viajó a Venezuela esta semana para conocer más sobre la situación del país y que recorrió algunos barrios pobres de Caracas por su cuenta.
"Bienvenido a Venezuela, Sr. Penn. Y a él lo mueve la conciencia, la búsqueda de caminos nuevos", dijo Chávez el miércoles en un discurso televisado. "Es uno de los más grandes opositores a la invasión a Irak".
Chávez leyó en voz alta una reciente carta abierta de Penn dirigida al presidente George W. Bush, en la que condena la guerra en Irak y exige que el mandatario estadounidense sea impugnado. También dice que éste, el vicepresidente Dick Cheney y la secretaria de Estado Condoleezza Rice son "personas villana y criminalmente obscenas".
El presidente venezolano, quien comparte ese punto de vista, dijo que él y Penn hablaron "con mi mal inglés, pero más o menos nos entendimos".
Indicó que el actor estaba "bien enterado de lo que está ocurriendo en los Estados Unidos y el mundo, a pesar de que está en Hollywood".
Además, agregó Chávez, "ha hecho grandes películas". Y dijo que vio recientemente "Mystic River", por la cual Penn ganó un Oscar.
Por su parte, Penn visitó el miércoles nuevos estudios cinematográficos a las afueras de Caracas. El actor, cuya visita no fue anunciada, no ha hecho declaraciones públicas.
